A benchmark example of Sonoma Chardonnay. Chardonnay remains the most popular grape variety for US wine drinkers with 1 in 4 bottles sold being produced from it. If most Chardonnays approached the quality of this one, that number would certainly be much higher. What gets my attention here is the purity and refinement found with this wine. The raw material is obviously excellent. The wine gets a deluxe treatment, but it's not over-manipulated. 100% hillside fruit, fermented in 100% French oak, with sur lie aging for added depth and weight. This wine is stunning for it's simplicity, yet it's heaped with nuance. Drink it with any seafood or poultry dish, grilled or roasted. If you have some leftover wine, no worries, it drinks great on day two. Total production under 800 cases. Drink now through 2022.       .
