One the greatest Chardonnays that I've tasted this year. This wine gets the deluxe treatment in every way. It's sourced from the ultra prime Oak Knoll District. Yields are low, the concentration of flavor high. It's whole cluster pressed, barrel fermented (1/3 new oak), malolactic in barrel, sur lie for 15 months, then bottled unfined and unfiltered. It's a weighty wine, full, ripe, uber complex. It'll remind you of poached pears and apricots with a creamy butter note. It's along the lines of a top-notch Meursault. The structure will allow it to drink well on day two after being opened. Drink just slightly chilled with roasted poultry or braised pork. It would also be a great choice for holiday meals. Total production: under 100 cases. Drink now through 2024.
