2016 R de Romaneira - IGP Duriense, Portugal - SAVE 25%
Portugal is the world's most traditional, yet cutting-edge wine region. In recent years, there has been a growing presence of Portuguese dry red wines on the export market. Much of it is driven by the Douro, the region responsible for Port. This is an incredible example for a crazy cheap price. Made from traditional Port varieties of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Cao and one non-Port variety, Syrah. The wine is deep, dense, power-packed with ripe black fruit and a wild savory herb note. The tannins are well integrated into the wine. It's smooth, round and completely satisfying. Pull the cork, pour and enjoy, no aeration is needed. It holds up well into day two. Serve with red meats off the grill. I had it pasta Bolognese and loved it. Total production 2500 cases. Drink now through 2022.
