2016 Koyle Cerro Basalto Red Blend - Colchagua Valley, Chile - SAVE 20%

2016 Koyle Cerro Basalto Red Blend - Colchagua Valley, Chile - SAVE 20%
The best Chilean red that I've tasted this over the past year. Chile never seems to get is full credit for the diversity of the place. The country is heavily influenced by the ocean and the Andes. I think Rhone styled blends show better than anything else from there. Koyle is both certified organic and biodynamic. Yields are low. Made from a blend of mostly Mourvdre, with some Grenache and Carignan and a small amount of Syrah. The winemaking is quality-minded, not over-manipulated. The wine is deeply extracted, very full, not for the timid. you'll find a spicy garrigue character, along with smells and tastes of black fruit and dark roast coffee. The oak and tannins are well integrated into the wine. It's best to open it an hour before serving, it drank great on day two and even into day three after opening. Serve with your best meats from the grill or charcuterie. Total production 400 cases. Drink now through 2026.
