2013 Viluko Vineyards Split Rock Cabernet Sauvignon - Mayacamus Mt/Sonoma County - Save 27%
A blow your mind to confetti sort of wine. I visited this small mountain winery in the summer of 2019. I toured the place, tasted through the entire range, enjoyed meeting the people there. This place was hit hard by the wild fire in 2017, several buildings were lost, including some vines. Split Rock was the standout red wine for me. It's nearly 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, with a tiny amount of Malbec. It's a super saturated red, with the color extending to rim of the glass. It's smoky, savory and loaded with blackberry fruit notes. The tannins are evident, but well integrated. Some new oak is used, but it does not dominate the wine. Open it at least an hour before serving, It drinks every bit as good on day one as day two and it's still solid on day three. Try it with most any red meats, hearty stews or sharp cheese. Total production 600 cases. Drink now through 2025.
